Female Hair Loss
I have taken much consideration to the possibility that Cassidy may suffer from an abnormal condition that is causing her hair to be more of a nuisance than is normal or common.
There are two common types of hair loss. I have studied both at lengths and will post my findings below.
1. Androgenetic Alopecia (Pattern Baldness)
This is the most common form of hair loss in both men and women. Age, heredity, and testosterone factor into pattern baldness. Women over 30 may begin to see some thinning hair all over the scalp, but their hairline usually doesn't recede. Postmenopausal women generally produce more testosterone than before menopause, which may result in increased hair loss.
This form of hair loss seems unlikely because Cassidy is younger than 30 and is not postmenopausal. She is, in fact, very not barren (probably) and claims to have The Alpha Uterus.
2. Telogen Effluvium
This form of hair loss results from severe or sudden stress or physical trauma. If a woman has recently given birth, had a major surgery, recovered from a serious illness, or lost a job, her body may be shedding handfuls of hair. The University of Maryland reports that telogen effluvium may cause up to 75% of the hair on the scalp to fall out, and it may occur several weeks or months after the stressful event. Fortunately, this cause of hair loss is temporary and the shedding should decrease within six to eight months.
Yeah, Cassidy doesn't really buy this as the reason for her hair loss either because she has noted there is still a lot of hair on her head.

ReplyDeleteNo. This was taken when Cassidy was a missionary. It is just the only picture Cassidy has of just her hair. Also, photos are limited because she had to access them from her computer at work (no Facebook, etc.)
